Keeping up with friends is a lot of work. Life happens, people move around, and it's easy to drop off the radar. Someone has to make the effort to make time in our busy schedules. But strong friendships that can pick up where they left off, like years had never passed, are always worth it.
As I slogged up Tiger in the dank rain on Friday, the darkest June day in decades, I decided it was time to head east. So 24 hours later, we drove past the rain into a glorious hole of sunshine and walked through wonderful fields of flowers on the Eastside. Golden hour, with sparkles of all different colors. A crisp, cool breeze, and a feeling of appreciation for all the diversity this corner of the world has to offer.
It's certainly been a dismal June by nearly any standard here, so I had to make the most of our weekday "weather windows" (aka a few hours when it's actually not raining and the peaks are out of the clouds). In the last 3 days I have gone on a 15 mile trail run, thrashed on some moist routes at World Wall, and skied remarkably corny snow up at the pass. The long days and good access here in Issaquah allow me to work a full day and still get out and play. I feel grateful to live here in this playground. Don't give up hope, summer may arrive someday. Eventually.
A little methow magic to get your Monday morning going.
I know most of y'all follow me for the mountain content, but music was my first love, so can't forget that part of me. A few weeks ago I went to an Oh Wonder concert, my first big concert in a long time. So here is a little bit of my rendition of their song "Down".
Who has more style? @andreeagab or @daniel.briggs ?
