The Slammin Salmon Traverse
That mythical Blewett bluebird powder day 👌. Laps on laps, bopping through some of my favorite glades around.
My trip to Alaska wasn't quite as epic or gnarly as last time, but it was still wonderful and filled with great views and people. It was just about exploring what anchorage has to offer and learning the ways of the locals. The full write up can be found in my bio!
When people ask me what my objectives are for the ski season, I don't really know what to say. I don't have many classic "objectives" and the things that captivate me are often rather obscure and border line dumpster diving. But instead of valuing my season by how much pow I skied or the sickest lines, I've prioritized the exploration and adventure. This is a much more obtainable goal and thus this season has felt more fulfilling than last. You could call it a coping mechanism after last year's disappointment or you could call it an evolution, or simply a regression 😂. Maybe in the coming months I'll line up some more aesthetic stuff, but for now I'm having a ton of fun getting weird.
Last weekend, @kellymjiang and I did our first skate race together, the Tour of Anchorage 50k! Kelly has been getting really into skate skiing and convinced me to go to Alaska for this race. It was a fun experience with great views and a lot of thunder thighs. Maybe it is finally time to get real skate gear! Pretty sure I was the only one out there without actual skate boots, but I had to do at least one 50k on those retro colored skis from the 90s!
